Most DIY jobs that are carried out by home owners can cause injuries if safety is neglected. The miss use of ladders is probably the biggest cause of these accidents.
When using a ladder you should use the one in four rule, the foot should be one measure out from the wall for every four measures of wall height. The average property is 5.2m high so the ladder should be 1.3m from the wall. You should always get someone to hold the ladder for you and never do ladder work in high winds.
