Merseyside Home Improvements - Gas Safety

If you suspect you have a gas leek or need to replace or repair any gas appliances make sure you only use a registered CORGI gas fitter. The law states that only CORGI trained people should work on gas appliances. You cannot detect CO fumes as they have no smell or taste and can kill in a matter of hours.

A landlord in Wales was recently fined for installing a gas boiler in a property he owned. His tenant noticed there was a gas leek and called in Transco who had to make the boiler safe. This faulty fitting could have caused fire, explosion or emitted lethal CO fumes and resulted in a jail term for the landlord. He was fined £6000 and ordered to pay £4478 in costs for breaching the Gas Safety Regulations 1998.
