Merseyside Home Improvements - Common Building Mistakes
If you are thinking of building an extension or converting a loft or garage to expand your property then you need to be aware of the most common mistakes property owners make. According to the Homebuilding & Renovating magazine you should take note of the following
Don’t pay up front – this ensures the builder will turn up. If they say they will only work cash up front this may lead to problems and you could end up paying twice.
Sticking to a budget – make sure you have a contingency plan in case the unexpected happens. Most people go over budget by upgrading their fixtures and fitting. If you don’t need it then don’t buy it.
Don’t cut corners – especially on bricks, roof tiles, windows etc. Make sure you buy good quality materials.
Don’t always go for the cheapest quote – make sure you get a number of quotes and compare what’s included. Good tradesmen are not cheap and you don’t want to have to pay out again to repair bad workmanship.
