Merseyside Home Improvements - Sticking to a Budget
When planning on improving, renovating or repairing our homes do we plan a proper budget? If so, do we then stick to it? Research has shown that a quarter of all projects go well over budget and the average cost for a larger home improvement job was about £10k but we only budgeted for around £6k.
The research also found that the biggest reason (53%) for going over budget was changing to a higher grade especially of fixtures. Another 20% stated that unexpected hidden problems pushed up costs and a further 20% just admitted they got their sums wrong to begin with.
The kitchen was the area that most home owners went over budget on followed by the bathroom then extensions.
