Merseyside Home Improvements - Carbon Footprints

We’ve heard this term in the papers and on the news a lot recently and there are a number of ways home owners can improve their rating. A carbon footprint is a measure of how much carbon dioxide we create and contribute to climate change.

There are a number of easy ways homeowners can help such as,

Recycling – installing a water butt, having a compost, using local bottle banks
Insulation – making sure lofts, cavities and walls are fully insulated
Bulbs – switching to low energy light bulbs
Solar power – to provide heat and hot water
Appliances – making sure they are all turned off and not left on standby, washing at 30 degrees and lowering our heating by 1 degree

It is thought that the UK plan to spend over £13 billion to ensure our homes are more eco friendly.
