Any new property is now required to have a boiler system that converts 90% of the fuel it produces to heat. Older models only convert about 60%. It is believed that around three quarters of a properties carbon emissions are from their boiler. Having an energy efficient boiler system in place can reduce these emissions and also your heating bills.
If a new boiler is not an option make sure your existing boiler is well lagged with a boiler jacket. Another way of
saving on heating costs is to turn the boiler down by just 1 degree, this should save around 10% of your heating bill.
