It was announced this week that there is to be more investment into offshore wind power which will see thousands of turbines in the Irish Sea, North Sea and the coast of Scotland. It is believed these turbines will create around 50% of the UKs power. Each turbine would be able to power up to 8000 homes.
Homeowners can reduce their bills by installing their own turbine or solar panels. By purchasing a wind turbine you can cut down on bills and also sell any unused power back to the grid. Turbines are not cheap and can rage in price from around £3k to £18k, solar panels cost in the region of £5k and can cut bills by around 75%.
Depending on what option you decide government funding may be available for up to 50% of the costs.
