Merseyside Home Improvements - Moving Tips
From Rainhill Removals & Storage Ltd
Moving is a stressful time so to make things easier for you we've put together some useful hints and tips. This should help your move be quicker, less stressful and more enjoyable.
*Label each box with what room they belong to they can be taken straight there when delivered to the new property.
*Each package should also state if it is heavy or fragile.
*Spread the weight of heavy items over different boxes this makes the boxes easier to carry.
*Don't under fill your boxes as when packed they may collapse under the weight of heavier boxes.
*Make sure fragile items such as glass are wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent breakages.
*Unplug and drain items such as dishwashers and washing machines in advance, don't leave till the day you move.
*Defrost freezers in advance and make sure they are fully defrosted.
*Start packing non essential items in advance, don't leave everything to the last minute.
*Flat pack furniture should be dismantled before moving, place all screws and fixings in a plastic bag and tape to the furniture, this will help when re-assembling at the other end.
*If possible avoid using bin bags to pack as they tend to tear and are difficult to stack.
*Before you leave check your loft, cupboards, and all outbuildings such as sheds, storerooms and garages.
*On the day of your move make sure all entrances, paths, stairs, walkways and passages are clear so that the removals firm have plenty of space to park and load up.
*If you have children or pets you may want to consider leaving them with a sitter during the move.
*As you are leaving make a note of all your meter readings and contact your utility companies as soon as you
can with the details of your new property.
